Mechanicsville Churches Emergency Functions
Helping families in Mechanicsville with essential bills, food,
and clothing so they can stay in their homes, keep their utilities on,
and have food on their tables
.
Churches in the Mechanicsville area of Hanover County, VA work together to provide for the needs of our community.  Services include: financial assistance, food, clothing, and the Senior Rides Program.

"By working together we multiply our resources!"

Forty years ago, in 1976, after a Thanksgiving service together, three churches in Mechanicsville began working together to help families in the area by forming the Mechanicsville Churches Emergency Functions (MCEF).

Many people in our community live paycheck to paycheck, and have little or no savings.  If they experience a medical emergency or have an accident or lose a job, they can't keep up with the rent, utility bills and medicines.  As the population of Mechanicsville has grown, more churches have become involved.  Today, over 30 Mechanicsville churches combine their mission resources to help neighbors in need through MCEF.

Most of the families that we help are referred to us through local churches or the Hanover Department of Social Services.  Monetary donations pay essential bills and help these families avoid utility cut-off or eviction.  Clothing, linens and non-perishable foods are collected by churches, organizations, individuals and businesses to help keep the MCEF closets well-stocked.

As we combine our efforts, we see evidence of God's blessings upon our community being magnified.  Together, we can help our neighbors get back on their feet.

2.  All services distributed by MCEF -- all church contributions (funds, food, clothing) will be combined in one pool to provide a more effective and efficient way to provide for the needs of our local community.

SENIOR RIDES:

Helping seniors continue to live independently in their homes.

The MCEF Senior Rides program assists seniors age 60+ in the Mechanicsville, Virginia area who are not able to drive.  We also provide transportation for those who may have a medical condition that requires frequent trips for medical treatments such as physical therapy, chemotherapy or dialysis.

This free transportation program is for scheduled medical appointments, grocery shopping and for personal business (such as banking).  Our goal is to help seniors continue to live independently in their homes.

While we offer this as a free transportation service, donations are needed to sustain the program.   We appreciate your generous gifts.
